May 8 Pig’s Ear
Pig's Ear is an eclectic family folk music band, based in Kent.
They play both 'contemporary' folk and material from the traditions of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland and anything else that takes their fancy. Great fun.
May 15 Rattle on the Stovepipe
Dave, Pete and Chris craft traditional songs and tunes from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean – sometimes consecutive, sometimes simultaneous, but always admirably executed with wonderful musicianship and flair.
May 22 Blackstrap Molasses
will be providing a mixture of melancholy, thought provoking, and hilarious, songs and music. a five piece group, headed by Nick Westcott, who runs the Eastbourne folk club. They are brilliant, and they only live next door.
May 29 Jeremy Taylor
A welcome return for the wonderfully charming singer/songwriter, musician poet and humorist who was banned from South Africa for ridiculing apartheid. A legendary teller of truths, stranger - and funnier - than fiction.
June 5 Robert Brown
A young artist who came and did a floor spot one night and people liked him so much they wanted to have him back as guest artist. So here he is.
June 12 John Conolly
John is to sea-songs as hops are to beer! He is a peerless presenter of such material and has created songs himself which have reached legendary status among the cognoscenti. He's also a warm-hearted and gentle person who invests his performances with genuine feeling for both lyric and tune.
June 19 Mim Backhouse
Miriam Backhouse started singing and accompanying herself on guitar in British folk clubs in the mid seventies and quickly gained a big reputation as a new young performer of traditional material. She has started touring again after thirty years living abroad.
Miriam is our last guest before the summer break.
We re-open on September 11
with a special event for the Seaford Live Festival.
